Step-by-step protocol

Step 1Set up dedicated QT tank with sponge filter, heater, low light

Step 2Cycle the QT tank in advance OR seed with established media on day 1

Step 3Match parameters to display tank

Step 4Acclimate new fish via 60-90min drip

Step 5Observe daily for ich, fin rot, fungus, bacterial infection

Step 6Watch eating behavior - refusing food is the FIRST disease symptom

Step 7Treat reactively: ich → heat to 86°F + Ich-X. Fin rot → Kanaplex. Fungus → API Pimafix.

Step 8After 14-21 days symptom-free: drip acclimate to display
