The Ikola morph features a wide bright-yellow band against a black body. Collected from Ikola, Tanzania on the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. One of the most popular Tropheus morphs in the hobby due to dramatic coloration.
Ikola requires a hard, alkaline water profile typical of Lake Tanganyika: pH 7.8-9.0, GH 10-20, KH 8-12, temperature 76-80°F. Group of 12+ specimens minimum to disperse aggression. Vegetable-heavy diet (spirulina-based pellets, blanched zucchini, occasional protein). 75+ gallon tank for a colony.
