Quarantine
QT - isolation tankDefinition
Quarantine (QT) is the practice of holding new fish in a separate isolated tank for 14-30 days before adding them to the display, to prevent disease introduction.
Practical use
Standard reef QT: 21-30 days with prophylactic copper or chloroquine. Standard FW QT: 14-21 days observation, treat only if symptoms appear. The single most important husbandry practice for preventing tank-wide disease outbreaks.
