4 themed stocking ideas for 75-gallon

1. Mixed reef (75g)

  • 1x Pair Ocellaris clownfish
  • 1x Royal gramma
  • 1x Six-line wrasse
  • 1x Yellow watchman goby + pistol shrimp
  • 1x Banggai cardinalfish pair
  • 1x Kole tang or tomini tang (year 2)
  • 40+ mixed CUC
  • Full coral diversity

Notes: The 75g is widely recommended as the entry point for serious reef. Full SPS + LPS + soft coral diversity, room for 6-7 fish.

2. Mbuna cichlid (full)

  • 25-30x Mbuna mix (yellow labs, demasoni, acei, rusty, red zebra, electric blue johanni)
  • Maximum rockwork
  • Aragonite sand

Notes: Intentional overstocking spreads aggression. 8-12 species adds visual diversity. Weekly 30-40% water changes mandatory.

  • 4x Silver dollars (eat plants but oscar-safe)
  • 1x Sailfin pleco

Notes: Centerpiece predator setup. FX-series canister filter + 2 powerheads. Massive bio-load = aggressive water changes.

  • 1x Yellow tang

  • Mostly soft + LPS (avoid SPS coral that tangs nip at)

Notes: Multi-tang stocking. Add tangs simultaneously to disrupt territorial pairing. 75g is the minimum size.
