Mostly frozen + occasional live. 4-5x weekly frozen rotation (mysis, bloodworms, brine, krill) + 1-2x weekly live treats (or cultured BBS). Variety matters more than picking one.
Is tubifex worm safe?
Risky. Tubifex carries flukes, Camallanus, and bacterial diseases. Use blackworms or freeze-dried tubifex instead. Skip live tubifex entirely if buying from pond-collected sources.
How do I switch picky fish to frozen?
Mix live + frozen for 1-2 weeks (drop in mysis cube next to live BBS). Gradually shift ratio. Most fish convert in 2-4 weeks. Mandarins are the exception - many never convert.
