Euphyllia is the LPS coral genus that includes the hobby workhorses: hammer (E. parancora), torch (E. glabrescens), frogspawn (E. divisa), and grape (E. cristata). Once classified as separate genera, recent reclassification has united them under Euphyllia.
Euphyllia tolerates a wider parameter range than Acropora. Moderate PAR (100-200 μmol), gentle flow (no laminar flow on the polyps), and target-feeding 2-3x per week with mysis or frozen brine drives strong growth. The catch: Euphyllia has aggressive sweeper tentacles up to 6 inches at night that can sting neighboring corals - place with margin.
